Dear parent/carer, The next few weeks are set to get very busy in school. Tonight, our Year 5 pupils will represent our school at the annual carol concert in the Pavilions shopping centre. All parents and family members are most welcome to attend. The concert will start at 5pm and is scheduled to finish at approximately 6pm. We are very much looking forward to tomorrow’s Christmas Fayre. This will take place in school from 3.30pm until 5.30pm. Our PTA have been working hard organising lots of stalls and attractions including our Santa’s grotto, Christmas tombola, raffle, games, arts & crafts and refreshments including mulled wine and mince pies. We hope to see you there!
Early Years - Christmas Production Our Early Years Production will take place next Tuesday 12th December at 10.30 am. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend. Due to arrangements for their performance, our Lower Early Years (morning and afternoon groups) will be combined for the following two sessions - Monday 11th December: Combined pm (all pupils to attend the afternoon session for their dress rehearsal). Tuesday 12th December: Combined am (all children to attend the morning session for their production).
No Pens Wednesday Next week, we will be holding our ‘No Pens Wednesday’ event. All classes and lessons will be focused on learning through speaking and listening activities that will include debates, performance poetry, learning through photographs, story-telling and discussing topics of interest. We are doing this because we know speaking and listening skills are extremely important for children’s development - both in education and more widely. This is a really exciting day that will encourage good classroom talk and will build on these essential skills in a fun and engaging way. ‘No Pens Wednesday’ is a national event developed by The Communication Trust, to find out more please go to: www.thecommunicationtrust.org.uk/nopensdaywednesday

This year, all classes will perform their Class Assembly for parents, carers and family members. During the last academic year, we trialled holding these assemblies at 9am but a large percentage of parents fed back that they preferred the original 3pm time slot. Please complete the Google survey below if you would like to make your preference known - we will analyse the results of this poll and hold the assemblies at the most popular time. This survey will close at the end of December.

Christmas Lunch
Our Christmas lunch is always very popular with pupils (and staff) and is taking place next Wednesday (13th December) in school. This will consist of a Christmas themed lunch, crackers and festive music in the Hall. We are inviting all pupils to wear a Christmas jumper (or decorated top in this day). Pupils should wear this alongside the rest of their uniform – school trousers/skirt and school shoes.
Year 1 Parents’ Evening
Mrs Parry has just received an emergency hospital appointment for an operation over the Christmas break. Unfortunately, this means that she will not be in school for our planned Parents’ Evenings in January. As a result, she will be meeting parents/carers on either: Tuesday 12th or Wednesday 13th December. Year 1 parents should have received a letter yesterday asking them to select a convenient time to meet.
Book Fair
The book fair will be open during the Christmas fayre tomorrow. It will be an ideal opportunity to buy Christmas presents and any profit made will go towards the PTA to buy books for our school.
Years 1 and 2 Production
Next Thursday 14th December, Years 1 and 2 will perform their Christmas Production at 2.30pm and then again at 6pm. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend any of the performances.
For the afternoon performance the front doors will be opened up for visitors at 2.15pm.
All pupils in Years 1 and 2 are expected to attend in the evening (please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible if there is any reason they are unable to attend). The front doors will be opened for visitors at 5.30pm. Please drop your child off at their classroom before making your way to the school hall to get a seat.
Year 5 Swimming
Year 5 will attend their last swimming lesson next Wednesday 13th December. Our Year 4 class will be attending swimming lessons after Christmas (letters will be sent home shortly).
Early Bird Groups
Both Mrs Sullivan’s Early Bird group and Mrs Owen’s Year 6 Kent group will finish on Friday 15th December.
A new group of pupils will be invited to attend Mrs Sullivan’s intervention after Christmas.
Christmas Carol Concert
We would like to invite all pupils, parents, carers and family members to attend our annual Carol Concert on Tuesday 19th December. This will take place, from 4pm, in Church. The carols and readings will be led by our Year 6 pupils.
End of Term Mass
Our end of term Mass will take place on Wednesday 20th December. If you are able to help accompany your child’s class to and from Church – please let their class teacher know as soon as possible. We will leave school at approximately 9am (the actual Mass will start at 9.30am). Thank you in advance.
Parents’ Evening
Our Parents’ Evenings will now take place on Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th January – from 3.35pm until 6pm. This will be a good opportunity to discuss your child’s latest assessment results. We will send home a letter, during the first week back after Christmas, inviting you to select a convenient appointment slot.
Last Day – Early Finish Reception to Year 6
