Dear parent/carer,

Welcome to our first Newsletter for this term. It seems like a distant memory now, but we hope you had a fantastic Christmas holiday. Father Nicholas visited school last week to lead our Epiphany Mass with the children – a big thank you to all the parents/carers who came along to join us for this celebration. We’re looking forward to a busy new year ahead with lots of exciting activities planned including themed weeks, class assemblies and productions.

Parents’ Evening

You should have received a letter inviting you to one of our Parents’ Evenings taking place next Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th January – from 3.35pm until 6pm. These meetings are a good opportunity for you to discuss your child’s latest assessment results. If your child is receiving Special Educational Needs (SEN) support, their class teacher will also discuss their latest Individual Educational Plan (IEP) for this term including targets and planned provision.

Owl Week

Throughout next week we will be celebrating our Owl Week in school. This will include lots of cross-curricular activities and every child will attend an Owl workshop, on Thursday, including a flying demonstration. It promises to be a fun, educational week.

Mrs Sullivan’s Early Bird Group

Letters have been sent home inviting a new group of children to join Mrs Sullivan’s Early Bird Group (this includes the RM Easimaths and Touch Typing programmes). The first session will take place on Monday 22nd Januaryat 8.30am.

Aladdin

Next Wednesday is pantomime day and the children are very much looking forward to watching a special performance of Aladdin. A theatre company will visit school, in the afternoon, to lead the performance for all pupils.

And the Winner Is…

Before Christmas, we published our Google Survey asking parents/carers to vote for what time they would prefer class assemblies to be held. The results are as follows:

  • 9am = 33.3% of the votes
  • 3pm = 66.7% votes

As a result of this poll, all assemblies this year will be held on a Tuesday afternoon - at 3pm. Please see the list of dates below:

Year 4 Swimming

Our Year 4 pupils have started their swimming lessons for this term. These will take place every Wednesday afternoon. All pupils are required to bring in a swimming costume, a towel and a swimming hat. It would be helpful if pupils did not wear earrings to school on swimming days. Thank you in advance.

Nursery Start Time

Reminder: the Lower Early Years (Nursery) morning session starts at 8:30am. Any Nursery child arriving in school after this time will need to be signed in late at the school office.

Upper Early Years (Reception) pupils start at 8.40am (the same time as the rest of the school).
