Dear parent/carer,
We are very much looking forward to next week’s Poetry Week. All teachers have planned lots of fun, exciting activities for the children to enjoy – including competitions, performance poetry and special assemblies. We have lots of other themed weeks and events planned for the remainder of this academic year. Please visit our school website for a list of dates: http://www.st-marys.hillingdon.sch.uk/
Safer Internet Day On Thursday 1st February we will be celebrating our Safer Internet Day. This will include age appropriate assemblies (for Years 1 to 6) followed by a Parents’ Workshop at 2:45 pm. These sessions will be led by Computing Consultant Mary Rebelo - you should have received a separate letter providing further details. Our teachers are also attending an E-Safety training session, after school, on the same day.
Friendship & E-Safety Week Following on from our Safer Internet Day, each class will be finding out more about E-Safety during the week beginning Monday 5th February. Please take the time to talk to your child about some of the messages covered. There are lots of good websites offering advice to parents about how they can keep their children safe online and Vodafone also publishes a free ‘Digital Parenting Magazine’. This can be downloaded from the following website: http://www.vodafone.com/content/digital-parenting.html/#
Year 2 Class Assembly Year 2 will perform our first class assembly, for this term, on Tuesday 6th February - at 3pm. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend. Please see last week’s newsletter for a list of all class assembly dates for this academic year.
Start Academic Year: 2018 to 2019 Please be informed that the new academic year will start on Tuesday 4th September 2018. All term dates are available to view on our school website: http://www.st-marys.hillingdon.sch.uk/

As it is poetry week next week in school, why not replace your child's usual bedtime story with some poems instead. If you do not have a poetry book the following website is a very useful resource: https://www.childrenspoetryarchive.org/
