Dear parent/carer,

Welcome back! We hope you had a safe, restful and enjoyable break. This half term promises to be another busy one. Our RE topic this term is ‘From Lent to Easter’ and we have planned for each class to visit Church to find out more about the different Stations of the Cross (please see the list of dates in the table below). Years 1 and 6 will be the first classes to visit Church next Wednesday afternoon. Our Key Stage 2 classes (Years 3 to 5) will also be performing an Easter Production for parents, carers and family members on Tuesday 27th March (at 2.30pm). We are also looking forward to our planned Book Week and have planned lots of activities to promote a love of reading including our popular Bedtime Stories event, our dress-up day and visits to Waterstone’s book store to collect a free World Book Day text (please see further information below).

Book Week: Dress-Up Day

We will be celebrating Book Week during the week beginning Monday 12th March. This year's theme is Fairytales or Traditional Tales from other countries. Children will be invited to come to school dressed as their favourite character from a fairytale/traditional tale on Friday 16th March. Our dress up day is always a very popular event and the effort you go to is always staggering so we hope this advance warning helps.

Unwanted Games

If you have any unwanted dressing up clothes or interactive games at home, that you would be willing to donate to our Early Years setting, these would be much appreciated. Our EYs pupils particularly enjoy games that are hands on such as Buckaroo, Pop Up Pirate, Kerplunk, Hungry Hippos. Please send any games into school via your child’s class - thank you for your help in advance.

Compost Needed

Over the next few weeks our Early Years pupils will be learning about what plants need to grow and survive.  To help make this possible, we would appreciate any donations of compost. Please leave any bags by the Early Years entrance – thank you.

Book Week 2018

On Friday 16th March, we will also be inviting parents into classes to share stories with their child or small groups of children.  Parents are invited to attend between 9am and 9:30am.  We would especially appreciate if there are any parents who would be willing to share a traditional story from their own country.  We would also love to have dads coming to share stories to small groups in classes as this would really encourage our reluctant boys to read.  On Wednesday the 14th March all classes from Reception through to year 6 will be making their annual visit to Waterstones in Uxbridge to claim their free World Book Day book.  If you are able to accompany your child’s class on this day all help would be appreciated.  A letter will follow soon with the times of each individual classes visit.  On Tuesday 13th March we will also be inviting children back to school for Bedtime Stories from 5pm until 5:45pm.  Parents are also invited on this evening to come to the hall for an informal gathering focusing on the importance of reading and to talk about an exciting project that might be in the pipeline.  So rather than dropping your child off and have to wait around in the cold, why not join us in the hall for a nice cuppa and talk about reading?

School display

We are putting together a whole school display on the theme of reading. We would really appreciate if you could take a photograph of your child over the weekend, reading in an unusual place and send a copy of this photograph via their book bag next week.

Schoolmoney

You may have noticed that the SchoolMoney website has changed. Now when parents go to www.schoolmoney.co.uk they will be redirected to the new eduspot website.

To sign in, all parents need to do is select the Sign In button in the top right hand corner of the screen. A list will drop down and they need to select the Parent Login option at the bottom. This will send them to the parent login screen as normal.

If you have any questions about this new feature, please call the support line on 0845 388 5510.

You can also send them an email at support@schoolmoney.co.uk and they will contact you as soon as possible.

Packed lunches

If you are providing a packed lunch for your child, please make sure to include a drink with it.
