On Monday, Jeff Rich (Status Quo member for 14 years) visited school to lead a ‘Drummer Masterclass’ with the children. Jeff performed some of the band’s hit records and involved pupils in playing the drums. All of the children left with big smiles on their faces after a fantastic workshop. Year 6 Leavers’ Mass

Next Tuesday 14^th July, all pupils will walk to Church to attend the Year 6 Leavers’ Mass. This will start at 9.30am and all parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend. We require some parents to help walk the children to and from Church. If you are able to help - please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible. There is no limit to the number of helpers we can take with us (the more the better). If you are able to help: please arrive in school by 9am (and wait by the main front entrance). The children will leave school by this entrance and we ask that parents walk up to Church with their child’s class.

Book Fair

Thank you to everybody who visited our Book Fair this week. Thanks to the generosity of parents we were able to purchase books, to the value of £100, for our school library.

Year 5 Trip – London Zoo

Next Wednesday 15^th July, Year 5 will be visiting London Zoo. Pupils should wear their PE kit to school (including trainers) and bring a packed lunch in a disposable bag. In the likelihood of sunny weather, please ensure your child applies sun cream before school, has a sun hat to wear and that they bring a spare water bottle. The Year 5s are expected to return, back to school, before 3.30pm – we will keep you informed, via our text messaging service, if they are running late for any reason.

Years 1 to 6 Sports Day

Our Sports Day for Years 1 to 6 will take place next Monday 13^th July. This will take place on Uxbridge Recreational Ground (the field adjacent to the school) and will start at approximately 9.30am. All pupils have been divided into one of three House Groups and they will complete various events to earn points for this group. To create a team atmosphere, and to make scoring easier, we are inviting all children to come to school wearing a plain T-shirt that is the same colour as their House:

St. Francis: Green

St. Bernadette: Blue

St. Thomas: Red

Your child should know the group they have been assigned, but if they are unsure, please see their class teacher. If your child doesn’t own a top that is this colour, please don’t feel the need to go out and buy one – just send them into school wearing their PE polo shirt and they will be given a House sticker.

Pupils should come to school wearing their coloured top (or yellow PE polo shirt), school PE shorts and trainers.

They should bring their uniform in their bag to get changed into later in the day. If we need to cancel the event (due to rain) we will let you know as soon as possible via our text messaging service. Our back-up Sports Day is scheduled for Friday 17^th July (9.30am).

Year 5 PGL Meeting

On Tuesday 14^th July we will be holding a meeting for all parents, of pupils currently in Year 5, to explain the arrangements for their PGL residential when they move up to Year 6. This meeting will take place at 3.35pm, in the Year 5 Classroom.

Year 6 Leavers’ Assembly/Production

On Monday 20^th July, Year 6 will be performing their production of Bugsy Malone to the whole school. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend. We will open up the front entrance, shortly before 2pm, for all visitors to make their way to the school hall.

Basketball Club

The last Basketball Club was originally scheduled for today. Due to a previous cancellation there will be an extra session next Friday 17^th July (between 3.30 and 4.30pm).

Mrs Sullivan’s Early Bird Maths Group

Please note: this group has now finished for this academic year.

End of Year Arrangements

Nursery (LEYs) pupils will finish for the summer break on Monday 20^th July (usual time).

All other pupils will finish on Tuesday 21^st July – at the earlier time of 1.30pm.

To celebrate the end of this academic year, UEYs to Year 6 pupils will be walking to Church on the Tuesday to attend the 9.30am Mass.
