Friendship & Internet Safety Week 2015
Friendship Week
The children were involved in lots of fun activities this week as a part of our annual Friendship Week. On Monday all pupils picked their ‘Secret Friend’ (who they then had to make an extra special effort to be kind to) and these were revealed today. Other highlights included a ‘Friendship Poster Competition’ and class presentations of songs, plays, performances and poems. Each class also revisited our whole school internet safety rules with a focus on being kind to others online. We will be holding a follow up E-safety day after Christmas – this will include age appropriate assemblies and activities.
Curriculum Open Afternoon
Thank you to all the parents who attended our Curriculum Afternoon on Tuesday. We hope you enjoyed your tour of the school and that you found the information about our school development priorities and assessment useful. If you didn’t get the opportunity to attend, all of the details about how we are going to assess without levels will be available to view on our website from next week. We’d also like to say a special thank you to all the family members who bought, and sold, refreshments at our first ‘Friends’ Coffee Afternoon (the delicious cakes went down particularly well)!
Netball Team
The netball team enjoyed their first victory of the season, beating Colham Manor Primary School 4-2. Well done to all of the girls who took part in this match.
Chelsea Football
Reminder: Next week is the last week for both the Key Stage 1 and 2 Chelsea Football, after school, sessions.
Resolving Issues
If a parent has an issue with another parent, or child, we respectfully ask that they speak to their child’s class teacher (rather than confronting them directly on the playground). Thank you for your help in advance.
Football Team
Well done to the football team, who beat Ryefield Primary School 4-2 on Wednesday. The pupils who played worked brilliantly as a team and their behavior (as usual) was a credit to our school.

My name is Carolyn and I am Mum to Peter in Y3, I am looking forward to my new role of Chair.
I see the main role of the Friends of St Mary's to build strong working relationships among parents, teachers and the school, in support of students. We would like to plan lively and interesting events that anyone can help with or participate in that we as a community can enjoy. We also hope to raise funds to help enhance your child's experience at school. To do these, we need your help and support. We look forward to seeing you at our next event, which is the Christmas Carol Service.
