Rockingham Rec. - New Playground Design
This week has been particularly busy in school. On Tuesday evening our Year 6 pupils represented our school at the annual Pavilions Carol Concert. All the children who attended sang beautifully and, as usual, their behavior was a credit to our school. UEYs and KS1 performed their Christmas production for parents (and other family members) on Wednesday followed by Lower Early Years today. I’m sure you will agree that the children sang/danced brilliantly and their performances were a real treat! Various events are taking place next week including our KS2 Production, Carol Service and Fair, Christmas lunch, discos, pantomime and end of term mass (please see below for further details).
Rockingham Recreation Ground – Playground Design
We have been asked by the LBH – Residents’ Services to thank parents for providing feedback on the proposed new playground for Rockingham Recreational Ground. Please see above for the new design – this was chosen as it most closely reflects the views of children and parents who were surveyed in July. The equipment is due to be installed in January, subject to weather conditions. Thank you to all the family members who contributed their views. For a larger plan of the playground please take a look at this week’s newsletter on our school website: http://www.st-marys.hillingdon.sch.uk/
Last Kent and Early Bird Maths
Today was the last day of Mrs Owen’s Year 6 Kent Group and Mrs Sullivan’s RM Easimaths Group. The Kent group will resume again on Monday 11th January. We are in the process of analysing the results of our recent mathematics tests and will invite a new group of pupils to join Mrs Sullivan’s Early Bird Maths Group, after the Christmas break.
Non-Uniform Day
Next Tuesday 15th December, the children will eat their Christmas lunch in the school hall and they will then visit either the EYs/KS1 or KS2 Disco in the afternoon. Pupils may wear their own clothes on this day, in return for bringing in a £1 donation. We are trying to encourage all children to wear something festive – this could include Christmas jumpers, hats etc. All donations received will be used to purchase much needed computer equipment for our school.
Plastic Bags Needed
Mrs Sullivan has requested any donations of unwanted plastic carrier bags – these are used to send various items home. If you have any spare bags lying around at home: please send them into school, next week, via your child’s book bag. Thank you in advance.
Donations of Luxury Items
On Wednesday 16th December, we are asking all pupils to bring in a luxury item that can be used on the adult tombola stall at our upcoming Christmas Fair. This could be wine, chocolates or bottles of spirits. Members of our ‘Friends’ Committee will be collecting these items, at the front entrance of our school, next Wednesday morning. Thank you in advance.
Years 3 to 5 Christmas Productions
Also on Wednesday, pupils in Years 3, 4 and 5 will be performing their Christmas Production for parents and other family members. We will be holding the first performance in the afternoon at 2pm followed by a further showing in the evening at 6pm.
It is expected that all pupils will attend their evening performance. If your child is unable to take part for any reason, please let their class teacher know as soon as possible. For the evening performance pupils should arrive at school between 5.30pm and 5.45pm (to get changed/ready for the production). The front entrance school will be opened at 5.30pm – please do not buzz into the school office before this time – thank you.
Christmas Carol Service and Church Fair
We would like to invite all parents, pupils and family members to join us at our Carol Service, in Church, next Thursday 17th December (at 6pm). The service will be followed by our Christmas Fair in the Church hall which will include refreshments (mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies), Christmas arts and crafts, a raffle, tombola and the chance to meet St. Nicholas. We hope to see you there!
Nursery Combined Sessions
Further to letter sent on 10th November, Nursery will have combined sessions next week:
- Tuesday 15th December, all nursery children to attend the afternoon session for EYs Disco (12:30 p.m.- 3:30 p.m.)
