Boris Johnson Visits St. Mary's
Boris Johnson Visit
Today, we were lucky enough to be visited by our local MP, and Mayor of London, Boris Johnson. On arrival he was met by our Year 6 representatives who then proceeded to take him on a tour of our school. He visited every class and the children really enjoyed telling him about our school and the work they have been doing. We’ve taken lots of photographs, which are available to view in the ‘Gallery’, on our school website:

Pupil Voice Day
On Monday, we interviewed all of the children as a part of our Pupil Voice Day. The pupils were really positive and we heard some lovely comments about our school. Please visit our website to see a range of quotes from each year group:

Year 3 Class Assembly
Year 3’s class assembly will take place next Tuesday 9th February, at 3pm, in the school hall. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend. The front entrance to school will be opened up shortly before 3 o’clock, for all visitors to make their way to the school hall.
Safer Internet Day
Next week, we will be taking part in the global Safer Internet Day 2016. Coordinated by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the aim of this event is to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for young people. Each class will revisit their class E-Safety rules and will take part in various activities related to a safer use of the internet. Please visit the following website for further details: http://www.saferinternet.org.uk/
On Thursday 11th February, Mary Rebelo (ICT Consultant) will lead two assemblies with Lower KS2 and then Upper KS2 – these sessions will include content that is very much age specific. Mary will also stay, after school, to lead a certified Internet Safety course with all our teachers (and also staff from local schools).
Ash Wednesday Liturgy
Next Wednesday 10th February, all pupils will walk to Church to take part in an Ash Wednesday Liturgy. If you are able to help accompany your child’s class, to and from Church, please arrive in school at 1.05 pm.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids 2016 Vouchers
Once again we are collecting Active Kids vouchers in school. These can be exchanged for much needed sports and cooking equipment - encouraging pupils to eat, move and live well. One voucher will be issued in Sainsbury’s stores for every £10 spent (until the 3rd May 2016) – all vouchers are now printed on a single piece of paper alongside till receipts. All donations to school are much appreciated – please send them into school via your child’s book bag. Thank you.
Football Report
On Wednesday, our school football team played St. Bernadette’s in the quarter finals of the Hillingdon Schools’ League. Johnny (Year 5) scored in the final minute of extra time, resulting in a 2-1 win. Well done to all the boys who took part.
Postage Stamp Collection
Thank you to everybody who has donated used postage stamps this year. This collection for charity has raised £3329.80, since January 2015. Currently all the money raised goes to the Stroke Association and with the generous match-funding received from the Royal Mail, the actual value of our contribution was £6659.60. Please continue to send in any used postage stamps to the school office (via your child’s book bag).
