Internet Safety Day 2016

This week, Year 3 taught us a great deal about God’s unconditional forgiveness through their class assembly on the topic of ‘Reconciliation’. On Wednesday the whole school walked to Church to participate in our Ash Wednesday Liturgy (thanks to all the parents who helped accompany the children). Yesterday we held our Safer Internet Day: every class revisited our E-Safety rules and took part in various activities linked to keeping safe online. In the afternoon we were visited by Mary Rebelo (ICT Consultant) who led an assembly with Years 3 and 4, followed by Years 5 and 6. She then stayed in school to lead a certified CEOP Internet Safety course with all of our teachers (and staff from other schools). If you would like more information/advice on steps you can take to help protect your child at home, you may find the following websites useful:

Pupil Premium Awards 2016

We received a letter last week, from the Under Secretary of State for Education, to say we have won the local KS2 Pupil Premium Award for 2016 as we’re one of the high achieving schools in the country in terms of the attainment and progress of your disadvantaged pupils since 2011’.

A copy of the letter and further information about Pupil Premium can be viewed on our school website:

Class Assemblies

Please see the table below, for a list of dates of all upcoming class assemblies – these will all take place at 3pm, in the school hall. Parents, carers and other family members are more than welcome to attend.

Primary School League Tables

Just before Christmas, the Government published their Primary School League Tables, based on the results of the end of Key Stage 2 SATS Tests taken in the Summer Term 2015. Across the whole of the Hillingdon LA, our school achieved the highest percentages of Level 4s (100%), Level 5s (59%) and also the highest Average Point Score (32.2). Please click on the link below to view the results online and compare other schools:

Netball Team

Well done to the Netball Team who beat Heathrow Primary 5-1 on Tuesday. The girls played brilliantly as a team and their behaviour was a credit to our school.

Lunch Box Policy

As a designated ‘Healthy School’ (Healthy London Award), we are always trying to encourage our pupils to make healthy food choices when packing their lunch box. Please can you remind your child that they should not bring sweets into school (this includes spray candy, chocolate bars and packets of sweets). For health and safety reasons, we also ask that pupils do not bring in any meat on skewers. Please visit our website for a full copy of our Lunch Box Policy.

World Book Day

Our school will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March and would like to invite all pupils to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. All pupils will get the opportunity to show off their outfits at a special assembly and there will be book prizes for the most original costumes worn in each class.

Good Bye and Thank You to Miss Tirado

As Miss Gahan is returning from her maternity leave, Miss Tirado will be leaving St. Mary’s on Friday 12th February. Miss Gahan will be teaching Lower Early Years after the half term holiday.  We would just like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Tirado on behalf of the school for all her hard work and care for the children. We would like to wish her all the best for the future.
