Ecuador Earthquake Appeal
Thank You
Thank you to all the children who brought in £1 today, as a part of our Non-Uniform Day. We will send all donations received to the Ecuador Earthquake Appeal.
Year 6
This week was a busy week for Year 6 who took their end of KS2 SATs tests. They now have lots of exciting activities to look forward to, including their residential trip to the PGL Centre and their End of Year Production and Mass.
KS1 Tests
Next week KS1 will be doing their SATs tests. We will be telling the children that they are going to do some special work to show what they can do. We would appreciate it if you could refrain from discussing these tests with them as we worry it may cause unnecessary stress or pressure.
Unclaimed Cake Containers
Thank you to everybody who contributed cakes to the Year 5 Cake Sale last week. We have quite a few containers, plates and tins left in school (without names on them). If you think one of these might be yours and you would like it back, please enquire at the school office.
QuadKids Athletics Competition
Next Wednesday 18th May, a group of Year 5 and 6 pupils have been selected to represent our school at the QuadKids Athletics Competition. This will take place at the Hillingdon Sports and Leisure Complex, in Uxbridge, and consists of: 75 metres sprint, 600 metres run, mini vortex howler throw and the standing long jump. The winner of this competition will go on to represent Hillingdon at the London Youth Games, on the 30th June. If your child is taking part – please arrive at the complex by 6pm to pick them up.
Year 4 Visit
Next Friday 20th May, Year 4 will walk to Fassnidge Park in the morning to visit a pop-up Velodrome. They will receive coaching from professional riders and then get the opportunity to cycle on the track. This event will be led by Street Velodrome with the aim of encouraging children to develop a love of cycling. The visit is completely free and our school will also receive a complimentary resource pack full of cross-curricular activities. All children taking part have been asked to come to school in their PE kit and trainers (and to bring their school uniform in their bag).
Year 1 Class Assembly
Year 1’s Class Assembly will take place next Tuesday 17th May. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend. The front entrance to school will be opened up by a member of staff, shortly before 3pm.
Puzzles with Parents Afternoon
During the afternoon of Monday 23rd May, all classes from Reception (UEYs) to Year 6, will be involved in lots of fun/interactive puzzles and investigations. We are inviting all parents/carers to come into school, from 2.15pm, to see what the children are doing. At 3pm, we will be serving refreshments in the hall and there will be the opportunity to view some of the maths resources we use in each class. A letter will be sent home with further details nearer the time.
PTA News
Just to remind you, there is a Fete Preparation Meeting in the Church hall on Monday 16th May - at 8pm. Everyone is welcome: parents, teachers, grandparents, aunts, uncles etc. If the Summer Fete is to be an exciting and fun day, we need lots of people to run stalls and help with advance preparation. If you cannot make this meeting, please email: stmaryspta@outlook.com to say how you can help.
We need advertisements for the Fete Programme. Are you self-employed? Would you like to advertise your business? Or how about asking your local builder, plumber, car mechanic, hairdresser, beautician, child minder etc. to advertise - it will be read by many local parents and their families.
Full page A5 £25, half-page £15, PDF file, jpg file, WORD doc. to be emailed to stmaryspta@outlook.com. If you need a letter on headed paper to secure the advert, please get in touch. Sarah Wells 07855 998693 and Sue Serret, Y2 Mums, Fete Co-ordinators. Many thanks for all your support.
