Over the next couple of weeks we will be holding our ‘Meet the Teacher’ presentations which will include information about assessment, the curriculum, routines and homework. Homework and Daily Reading

It is expected that all pupils read every night (at least three pages) as a part of their homework. We request that parents hear their child read daily and complete their Reading Record Diary - indicating which pages they have read. Please visit our school website for our full school Homework Policy (under ‘Key Information’ and then ‘Policies’): http://www.st-marys.hillingdon.sch.uk/

Before and After School

All children in the main school (Year 1 upwards) should be dropped off at the main entrance between 8.40 and 8.50am. After school, please wait on the Key Stage 2 playground for your child to be released from their classroom door leading onto this playground. Year 2 will now be sent home via the Computer Suite (between the Year 3 and 4 Classrooms). For health and safety reasons, teachers will only release pupils to parents and carers (or other nominated adults) – please let the school office know if you wish any other adult to collect your child.

Physical Education

PE is a part of the curriculum and all pupils are expected to take part. If your child is unable to participate for any reason, please let your child’s class teacher know via a letter. Although each class has set days for PE, we often hold extra sporting events and ask that all pupils bring their PE kit into school every Monday and take it home again at the end of the week.

Getting in Contact

We believe that good communication, between home and school, is vital to good attainment and progress. At the end of the school day we have an open door policy and teachers are available to discuss any concerns you may have. Unfortunately teachers are not available to meet with parents from 8.40am as they start teaching as soon as the pupils come into school. If you would like to speak to a member of staff in the morning please speak to either Mr Briggs (Deputy Head) or Mr Ellis (Senior Manager/SENCo) at the front entrance. Please send any letters into school, via your child’s book bag, or contact the office via our school email: office@stmarysuxbridge.org.uk

Birthday of Our Lady Mass

This Thursday all pupils will be walking to Church to celebrate the birthday of Our Lady. If you are able to help accompany your child’s class, to and from Church, please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible – we will leave school via the front entrance shortly after 9am.

Parking Restrictions

Prior to the summer break, the council mounted a parking enforcement camera just outside the main school entrance. Please avoid parking on the zig zag/double yellow lines just outside the school.

Parents’ Evenings

Our first Parents’ Evenings will take place on Tuesday 27th and Thursday 29th September. This will be an opportunity to discuss your child’s targets and support for this term and for you to ask any questions that you may have. We will send home a letter, next week, inviting parents/carers to request a convenient time slot.
