Year 2's Assembly - The Sermon on the Mount

Thank you to the numerous parents who came to watch Year 2’s class assembly on Tuesday morning. The children sang, and performed, brilliantly teaching us all about Jesus’ teachings associated with the Sermon on the Mount. Well done Year 2. For a list of other assemblies taking place this year - please see the list of diary dates below.

Clothing Collection

We are arranging a clothing collection, to raise funds for the school after the half term break. The clothes collection bags were sent out this week and we ask if these can be brought into school on Monday 20th February, as these will be collected on the Tuesday. We thank you in anticipation of receiving lots of bags of unwanted clothing, linens, shoes, bags and belts to raise money.

Book Week Events

During the week commencing Monday 27th February we will be holding our Book Week in school.

On Tuesday 28th February, we will be inviting Year 1 to Year 6 pupils to come back to school for our Bedtime Stories event. They may come back dressed in their pyjamas. Milk and pancakes will be provided (more details to follow at a later date).

Nursery and Reception children will have stories in class. We would like to invite parents to come and read with their child from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. or from 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Children may bring a cuddly toy (which must be in a bag that is clearly labelled).

On Thursday 2nd March, we are asking all pupils to come to school dressed as their favourite book characters. Please don’t feel the need to go out and buy any expensive costumes – there are lots of ideas on the internet for simple outfits that can be made at home.

Half Term Break

We finish today for the half term holiday. All pupils return to school on Monday 20th February –at 8.40am. All early morning support groups (including Kent and Early Bird) will resume during this first week back (at the earlier time of 8.30am). We hope you have a safe and restful break.

Leo Gorman, Parent and Foundation Governor

A service to celebrate the life of Leo Gorman will be held on Monday 20th February 2017 at 10.00 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes and St Michael Catholic Church, going on to Breakspear Crematorium, Breakspear Road, Ruislip HA4 7SJ at 11.30 a.m. then The Dolphin Pub, 1 Rockingham Road, Uxbridge UB8 2UB.  In preference to flowers donations can be made on the day in the church.  All donations are going to the Stroke Society.

Class Trips and Visits

We have a couple of trips planned for the first week back after the half term holiday. On Wednesday 22nd February, Year 5 will visit Spy Missions, in Milton Keynes, to carry out various spy themed puzzles and problems. This links with the Alex Rider spy novel (by Anthony Horowitz) that they are currently studying in class. The following day Year 3 will be visiting Uxbridge library, in the morning, to take part in a workshop teaching them how to find different books.
