Year 5 Trip - Spy Missions - Milton Keynes

We hope you had a fantastic half term break and enjoyed spending the time with your children – we’ve heard lots of stories from some of our pupils about the exciting things they did over the holiday. Thank you for all the donations of unwanted clothing sent into school this week. The clothes have since been collected by Recycle2School who will donate funds to our school in return for the number of bags collected. We’ll let you know the total amount that was raised once we find out. On Wednesday, our Year 5 class visited Spy Missions, in Milton Keynes, to carry out various spy themed puzzles and problems. This links with the Alex Rider spy novel (by Anthony Horowitz) that they are currently studying in class. Yesterday Year 3 walked to Uxbridge library to find out more about 'Rocks and Soils' as a part of their science work. It’s been a busy first week back!

Ash Wednesday

Next Wednesday 1st March, Father Nicholas will visit school to lead an Ash Wednesday liturgy with the whole school. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend. A member of staff will open up the main entrance shortly before 11am for all visitors to make their way to the hall.

Netball Team

The school netball team played West Drayton Primary School this week. The final score was 7-5. Next Wednesday they will be playing an away match against St. Matthew’s Primary School, in West Drayton. We wish them the best of luck!

Book Week – Bedtime Stories Event

Throughout next week we will be holding our Book Week in school. As part a part of the celebrations we will be inviting children in years 1 to 6 back to school on Tuesday 28th of February from 4:30pm to 5:30pm, for bedtime stories.  Children can come dressed in their pyjamas and bring their favourite cuddly toy.  As a school we are trying to promote a love of reading. “The joy of a bedtime story is the key to developing a love of reading in children’’ (Frank Cottrell Boyce, 2004 Carnegie medal winner). As bedtime stories will be taking place on Shrove Tuesday, children we will be provided with a pancake and milk.

Book Dress-up Day and Visits to Waterstone’s

The National Book Day is taking place on Thursday 2nd March.  Once again every child will be issued with a £1 book token to spend. We have arranged for Years 1 to 6 to walk to Waterstones, in Uxbridge, to spend their voucher on a specially published £1 book. We require some parents to help accompany the children on this visit. If you are able to help – please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible. Each class will be leaving school at the following times, please arrive in school 5 minutes before this time if you have volunteered to help.
