Book Week 2017

The whole school has had a busy week taking part in various book related activities. On Tuesday evening, the children came back to school, wearing their pyjamas, to take part in our ‘Bedtime Stories’ event. This included storytelling activities – as well as lots of milk and pancakes! Thank you to all the parents of our Early Years pupils who visited school earlier in the day to share stories with their children. On Thursday the children looked amazing in their various book themed costumes – please take a look at the ‘Gallery’, on our website, for lots of photographs of some of the outfits worn. Each class also visited Waterstone’s book store, on this day, to exchange their World Book Day token for a specially printed book. We’re still looking forward to our planned ‘Book Award Assembly’ - due to take place on Monday.

Class Assemblies

On Tuesday, Year 1 performed their class assembly, for the whole school, teaching us lots about how to prepare during Lent. They performed their parts and sang brilliantly – thank you to all the parents, carers and family members who came along to watch. See the list of diary dates below, for all of the other assemblies taking place this year. Please note the earlier start time, of 9am, for all class assemblies.

Parents’ Evenings

Following on from our Test Week, we will be holding our next Parents’ Evenings on Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd March (both from 3.45 until 6pm). This will be an opportunity to discuss your child’s latest assessment results and planned targets and support for the following term. We will send home a separate letter inviting parents to request a convenient time slot.

Years 3 and 4 – Church Visit

Next Friday afternoon, Years 3 and 4 will visit Church to find out more about the different Stations of the Cross. If you are able to help accompany the children on this visit, please let your child’s class teacher know – they will be leaving school just before 1.15pm.

Mrs Lynott

It is with regret that we need to inform you that Mrs Lynott will be leaving our school next Wednesday 8th March. Mrs Lynott has worked as a teaching assistant in our school for just over 6 years. She has been a highly valued member of staff supporting pupils (and teachers) in class and leading various intervention groups to support the specific needs of groups of children. She has spent the majority of her time, this year, with our Year 3 class who we know will miss her a great deal. We wish her the best of luck for the future.

Netball Match 1/3/17

This season the netball team developed incredibly as a team obtaining new skills and techniques. On Wednesday the team played well - everybody scored! The score was 11 – 2. Mr Briggs commented saying,   “It was excellent, a thoroughly deserved win” Mrs Jefferys (the coach) also commented “we ended our season with a high”. The team was ecstatic and extremely happy with the achievement they made.
