Thursday 30th March 2017
What a busy end to this term! The children looked really colourful on Monday dressed in the colours of the rainbow in support of our Early Year’s charity: The Rainbow Trust. Thank you for all the donations of £1 and to all the EY’s parents who came into school to share rainbow themed activities with their children. Early Years thanks all for a fantastic £240 that was raised for The Rainbow Trust. On the same day, the Film Club presented a special assembly for the whole school, showcasing some of the projects they have been working on this term. On Tuesday, Years 3 to 5 presented their Easter Production to parents – we’re sure you’ll agree that the children sang and performed brilliantly! On Wednesday Father Nicholas visited school to lead Confessions with our pupils in Key Stage 2 as a part of Lent. Today, Years 3 and 4 are visiting the Chiltern Open Air Museum linking with their current history topics. Various Easter activities have also been taking place this week including our Easter Garden Competition and we’re still looking forward to our whole school Easter Egg Hunt tomorrow.
Combined Nursery Session
All Nursery pupils (am and pm) should attend the morning session (8.45am – 11.45am) tomorrow due to the early finish for the end of term.
End of Term Mass
The whole school will visit Church tomorrow morning to celebrate our end of term mass. We require some parents/carers to help accompany the children to and from Church (we will be leaving school just after 9am). If you are able to walk with the children, please let your child’s teacher know as soon as possible. Thank you in advance.
End of Term
Reminder: we finish school tomorrow – at the earlier time of 1.30pm (Nursery pupils finish at 11.45am). We hope you have a lovely break with your children and look forward to welcoming everybody back on Tuesday 18th April.
Year 1 – Coming Into School
After the Easter break, we are asking that all Year 1 pupils come into school in the morning (8.40am – 8.50am) via the front entrance to school (instead of the green gate). Thank you.
Class Assemblies
We have a few class assemblies planned for next term (please see the dates listed below). These will all take place in the school hall at 9am. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend.
Fundraising for the School
We are arranging a clothing collection to raise funds for the school after half term. At the moment we have very little storage space and would ask that if you have any unwanted clothing you could store them for us. The clothes collection bags will be sent out week beginning 17th April and we ask if these can be brought into school on Monday 24th April as these will be collected on the Tuesday. We thank you in anticipation of receiving lots of bags of unwanted clothing, linens, shoes, bags and belts to raise money.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers
Thank you for all the donations of these vouchers – please continue to send them into school via your child’s book bag. One voucher will be issued in Sainsbury’s stores for every £10 spent. The more vouchers we receive – the more sports equipment we can purchase for our pupils to use.
Reading Gladiators
On Friday the 21st of April our Reading Gladiators will be visited by Nikki Gamble, the programme director. The Gladiators and all the staff are very excited about her imminent visit as Nikki is a very prominent figure in supporting children’s reading. Nikki has worked extensively in schools across the UK and internationally. She is the author of 'Exploring Children’s Literature' (2013) 'Guiding Reading at KS2' (2016). Nikki is KS2 reading advisor and series consultant for Oxford University Press and content creator for the Oxford School Improvement and Oxford Owl websites. She is Associate Consultant at the University of London, Institute of Education and Honorary Fellow at the University of Winchester.
