Thursday 6th July

This week has been another busy one in school. The children have been busy practising some of the Mindfulness techniques that they were taught on Friday as a part of their workshop. On Tuesday, the majority of our Year 6 children visited their new secondary schools and all other pupils moved up to their new class to meet their new teacher and teaching assistant. Year 6 have also been involved in lots of other activities this week including their ‘Bikeability’ cycling training.

Lunch Box Policy Poster Competition

Well done to all the pupils who entered our Lunch Box Policy Poster Competition. The quality of work was amazing and we now have the really difficult job of deciding on the winning entries from each class. These will be announced during a special assembly next week.

Annual Pupil Progress Reports

These are due to be sent home tomorrow and will include end of year assessments for each class (including the results of end of Key Stage SATs results). If you receive your child’s report and would then like to discuss it with your child’s class teacher – please arrange a mutually convenient time before the summer break. We hope you find the information helpful.

Mrs Sullivan’s Early Bird last session

Please note that tomorrow Friday is the last session of Mrs Sullivan’s Early Bird (8:30 a.m.) Maths Group.

WE WALK Sponsorship

The children all enjoyed taking part in their walks and runs last week during Health Week.

Thank you to everyone who has brought in their sponsorship money.

Please can all remaining sponsorships be in by tomorrow 7th July.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Miss Copper

Sports Days

Our main Sports Day for pupils in Years 1 to 6 will take place this Monday 10th July, from 9am. As in previous years it will be held on Rockingham Recreational Ground (adjacent to our school).

The planned Sports Day for all Early Years pupils will take place on the following day - Tuesday 11th July (from 9am also) in the Key Stage 2 playground. In the event of poor weather conditions we may have to reschedule (please see diary dates for back-up dates).

Nursery combined session on 11th July

All nursery children will be required to attend a combined nursery session in the morning (8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.) on Tuesday 11th July in order to participate in the Sports Day, weather permitting.

Please note that if the planned sports day gets cancelled due to bad weather, there will be another combined session for the reserve sports day on Thursday 13th July.

No Nursery sessions on 19th July

Please note that there will be no Nursery sessions on 19th July as they have already come an extra session for their school trip.

Book Fair

There will be a book fair in the school hall next Monday and Wednesday (3:30 – 4:00 p.m.) Please come and look at brand new books and stationery.

Fundraising for the School

We are arranging a clothing collection to raise funds for the school towards the end of the term.  At the moment we have very little storage space and would ask that if you have any unwanted clothing you could store them for us. The clothes collection bags will be sent out week beginning 10th July and we ask if these can be brought into school on Monday 17th July as these will be collected on the Tuesday. We thank you in anticipation of receiving lots of bags of unwanted clothing, linens, shoes, bags and belts to raise money.

Be the first St Mary’s parent to ask their employer to offer profit matching.

It is easy to do, many schools double their profits by with working with parents to approach your boss. We can help you if you wish.

We need more class reps. So please come along on Friday evening to find out more about the role. Have a look on the PTA area of the school website.
