Thursday 5th October 2017
What an exciting start to Space Fortnight it’s been! To celebrate the children have been busy taking part in lots of fun and interactive activities including cross-curricular work, arts/crafts, story writing and our Space Poetry Competition. Tomorrow the children will get the opportunity to share their poems at a special assembly. Next Monday we have planned for each class (Years 1 to 6) to get involved in a virtual reality workshop exploring our universe. It promises to be a lot of fun! Please keep an eye on our website for lots of photos taken throughout the two weeks.
SitOut
On 16th October the children will be learning about homelessness from Trinity Homeless Projects, who house single homeless people and children and families in emergency accommodation. Suzy Serret (Mum to Curtis Yr4) will visit each class and talk about the importance of Social Action in our community. On 17th October the children will be holding a SitOut to raise much needed donations to support single homeless people and children and families in emergency accommodation on your door step. A letter will be sent out in the book bags next week. Can children bring a cardboard box on that day. You can find out more about their projects here http://www.wearetrinity.org.uk/
Non-uniform Day
Next Friday (13th October) we are inviting all pupils to come to school wearing clothes/costumes associated with science fiction characters/creatures from space stories, films or TV programmes e.g. Star Wars, Dr Who. There will be prizes for the most imaginative costumes worn in each class.
Fundraising for the School
We are arranging a clothing collection to raise funds for the school. At the moment we have very little storage space and would ask that if you have any unwanted clothing you could store them for us. There are some clothes collection bags at the office but any big bags or sacks can be used. Please bring these into school on Monday 16th October as the clothes will be collected on the Tuesday. We thank you in anticipation of receiving lots of bags of unwanted clothing, linens, shoes, bags and belts to raise money. Thank you very much for your continued support.
Curriculum Open Afternoon
We would like to invite all parents to attend our Curriculum Open Afternoon on Thursday 19th October (from 2pm until 3.30pm). This will be a good opportunity to have a look around the school whilst the children are working.
One World Week Dress-up Day
As a part of our planned One World Week all classes will be finding out more about the customs and cultures of a particular country. On Friday 20th October we are inviting all pupils to come to school wearing clothes/costumes associated with this country. This could simply be items of clothing that are the same colour as the national flag. No football/rugby kits please. Each class will be studying the following:
