Years 4 and 5 - Victorian Brick Makers

Christmas Carol Service/Fair

On Thursday 17th December, we will be holding our annual Christmas Carol Service at Church. This will start at 6pm and is for all pupils and their family members (the carols will be led by our Year 6 children). After the service, there will be refreshments and Christmas activities in the Church hall (including an appearance from St. Nicholas).

Years 4 and 5 – Victorian Brick Makers

On Monday and Tuesday, we were lucky enough to be visited by representatives from the Groundwork Trust who delivered an assembly to the whole school and then led Victorian brick making workshops and activities with all pupils in Years 4 and 5. The children had lots of fun making traditional clay bricks. The bricks were collected and taken away to be fired in a kiln – we have been told that each pupil will be given one of their bricks to bring home before the Christmas break. Please visit our website and click on the ‘Photo Gallery’ to view lots of photographs taken during the sessions:

Friends of St Mary’s

Next Monday 9th November (at 6.30pm), we will be holding a meeting, in our school hall, to plan upcoming fundraising/social events (including the Christmas Carol Service/Fair). Please try your best to attend - this is an excellent opportunity to meet other parents whilst helping to raise much needed funds for our children.

Years 3 and 4 Mass

On Wednesday 11th November, Years 3 and 4 will walk to Church to attend the 9.30am Mass. If you are able to accompany the children to and from Church, please let your child’s class teacher know as soon as possible. Thank you.

Curriculum Open Afternoon

On Tuesday 17th November, we will be holding our Curriculum Open Afternoon (from 2pm onwards). This will include a tour of the school, information about ‘Assessment Without Levels’ and will end with a coffee afternoon in the hall. We will send home a separate letter, with further details, nearer to the date.
