Year 6 - Goodbye & Good Luck

Thank You to Year 6

Thank you to everybody who attended the Year 6 Leavers’ Mass today and their production on Monday. Our Yr6 pupils have been fantastic role models for the rest of the school and we will really miss them next year. Best wishes to all the family members who are leaving us and a big thank you for all the support you have given us during your child’s time at St. Mary’s.

Library Reading Challenge

On Monday, a representative from Uxbridge library visited school to introduce this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. The aim of this initiative is to encourage children to keep reading over the long summer break. Please visit your local library to register your child for this year’s challenge.

Improvements to Road Safety

The council is installing CCTV cameras outside schools in Hillingdon this summer to ensure people do not illegally stop or park on ‘school keep clear’ zones. This is to support improvements in road safety for children. From the start of the new academic year in September, motorists who are recorded parking or stopping on the yellow zig-zag lines outside a school will receive a fine of £110 (£55 if paid within 14 days). Yellow zig-zag road markings at the entrance of schools are an important road safety feature, demonstrating that the area must be kept clear to allow an unrestricted view for approaching motorists and for children waiting to cross the road.

Last Day of Term

As we’re sure you’re already aware, we break up today for the Summer holiday. We hope you have a safe and restful break and look forward to welcoming pupils back to school on Tuesday 6th September.

PTA News

Thank you to all those who attended the post-Fete get-together and AGM on Monday evening. The evening was successful in capturing all the things that worked well at the summer fete and lots of new ideas were suggested for the next Fete.

The AGM also took place and we would like to thank Miss Shevlin for attending.  She thanked our outgoing Chair, Carolyn Thomas. The newly elected Committee are: Chair - Sarah Wells, Treasurer - Aileen Gallahue and Secretary - Sue Serret.  We were also fortunate enough to secure Class Reps. for most years.

The new PTA team have lots of ideas and plans for the new school year beginning September 2016 and look forward to sharing these with you after the summer holidays. Enjoy the rest of the summer and thank you to everyone who has worked hard this year to raise funds for our school.
