Dear parent/carer,

Another busy week! We’ve hosted a range of courses, for local schools, over the past few days including sessions covering maths, grammar, punctuation and spelling content across the National Curriculum. On Tuesday, Years 1 and 6 walked to Church to participate in the 9.30am Mass. The Year 6 children did a great job of helping to look after our younger pupils and their behaviour was a credit to our school. Years 3 and 4 are the next classes to visit Church – please see further details below.

Autism Support for Parents/Carers

The Hillingdon Autistic Care and Support (HACS) group is a local charity that offers workshops, autism surgeries and other support to families of children with autism. They are leading the following workshop next week:

Understanding Autism: A workshop for parents and carers

A comprehensive workshop that provides insight into the complex nature of Autism Spectrum and the range of difficulties that can be experienced by those affected.  You will have opportunities to look at ideas and various proven strategies that when put into practice support individuals with autism in dealing with situations that cause difficulty; network with other families and ask questions in supportive surroundings.

Years 3 and 4 Mass

Next Tuesday 21st November, Years 3 and 4 will walk to Church to participate in the morning mass. If you are able to help accompany the children to and from Church - please let your child’s class teacher know. We will be leaving school just after 9am.

Nut Free Zone

Due to the increasing number of allergies we have designated our school as a ‘nut free zone’. Please ensure that pupils do not bring nut based products into school including peanut butter. Thank you for your consideration.

Christmas Non-Uniform Day

On Friday 1st December our PTA are inviting all pupils to come to school wearing Christmas clothes. This could be Christmas colours (red/green), Christmas jumpers or accessories i.e. hats, hair bands, decorations attached to a top. There is no need to spend any money on an outfit. Please bring in chocolates, wine or spirits for the Christmas Fayre at school drop-off on the 1st December. The PTA team will collect your donations. Thank you for your help in advance.

Oxford Reading Tree Books

At the beginning of the year the school purchased brand new Oxford Reading Tree books for stage 1 to stage 10.  Unfortunately several of these books have been damaged already.  Damage has included scribbling tears and spillages.  These books are supposed to last for the next ten years.  Please can we ask that you talk to your child about looking after books so that they can be enjoyed by other children.  Please can we also ask that water bottles are not kept in book bags and that books are kept away from younger siblings.

We will have to begin charging £5 for damaged books to cover the cost of replacing them.

Home Start Hillingdon

Are you a parent or grandparent?  Are you looking for a new challenge? Then Home-Start Hillingdon might just be what you are looking for…

A little of your time could make a BIG difference to a local family!

  • Are you a parent (mum or dad) or grandparent with 3 - 4 hours per week to spare?
  • As a parent you’ll know just how difficult it can be.  Parents supporting other parents: it’s a simple idea that really works.
  • Why not use your experience & skills to help families in Hillingdon?

Home-Start Hillingdon is currently recruiting new volunteers.

Home-Start trains volunteers to support families with at least one child under five and under stress.  Volunteers visit families in their own homes, to give support, befriending, and practical help.  Full training, support and out of pocket expenses are provided.

Our next volunteer preparation course is starting in January 2018.

The 10 session course takes place over 5 weeks, running on Wednesdays and Fridays, 9.45am – 14.30pm, with break for the February half term.
