Dear Parent/Carer, It’s been a busy end to this half term. Throughout this week our Year 2 pupils completed their end of Key Stage 1 SATs tests. These test papers will be used to help inform an end of Year 2 teacher assessment for pupils (these will be included in Annual Pupil Progress Reports). Thank you to everybody who made an extra effort to either walk, cycle or scoot to school as a part of the countrywide Walk to School Week. If you haven’t yet had the chance to take part – there’s still one more day to go! On Tuesday we were lucky enough to be visited by Councillor Simmonds. He spent the morning visiting each class chatting to pupils and staff. Well done to Early Years for such a fantastic assembly on Tuesday – it was lovely to see so many parents, carers and family members in attendance. We break up tomorrow (usual time) for the May Half Term Holiday and we hope you have a safe and restful break. All pupils are due back to school on Monday 4th June – we look forward to welcoming your children back on this day.
School Photographer – Class and Group Photos Our photographer will be visiting school on the first day back after the holiday (4th June) to take class and other group photographs e.g. the football and netball teams. Please remind your child to wear their full summer uniform on this day including a tie (if wearing a white shirt).
Dinosaur Week We will be holding our first Dinosaur Week during the first week back. To celebrate we have planned lots of cross-curricular activities for the children to enjoy including a special dinosaur assembly and workshops on Tuesday 5th June.
Assemblies After Half Term We have planned the following assemblies and productions for next half-term. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend. A member of staff will open the front entrance, at 3pm, for all visitors to make their way to the school hall.

Considerate Parking
Unfortunately we had a complaint from one of our neighbours last week who was very upset, and angry, when a parent parked in their resident’s parking bay. Please try to park a bit further away from our school (wherever possible) and if using Rockingham Close please show consideration for our neighbours by not blocking their drives or parking spaces. Thank you for your help in advance.
Coffee Morning will take place tomorrow, Friday 25th May, from 8.45am. Visitors may make their way to the school hall after dropping their children off at school in the morning.
We have not invited any speakers into school on this day but instead this will give parents the chance to meet up and chat informally.
Mrs Sullivan’s Early Bird Group
Reminder: Mrs Sullivan’s 8.30am Early Bird group will not be taking place after the May holiday. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Year 5 Trip
On Wednesday 6th June (first week back), Year 5 will be travelling to Whipsnade Zoo to find out more about different animals and their habitats. All Yr5 pupils require a packed lunch on this day. Pupils should wear a sun hat and bring a water bottle in the event of hot weather (as well as applying sun cream before school). Please send your child into school with a jacket if the weather forecast indicates rain.
Tissues
With hay fever season almost upon us we would be grateful for donations from parents of boxes of tissues. As you can imagine we get through loads of boxes and have depleted our budget allocation. Donations would be gratefully appreciated.
Sports Day
Our Sports Days for this year will take place as follows:
Thu 12th July: Sports Day for Years 1 to 6, from 9.30am, on Rockingham Recreational Ground.
Fri 13th July: Early Years Sports Day, from 9.30am, in school. Both Nursery classes should attend the morning session on this day.
Fundraising for the School
We are arranging a clothing collection to raise funds for the school for after half term. At the moment we have very little storage space and would ask that if you have any unwanted clothing you could store them for us. Clothing can be sent in any black sack or plastic bag. We ask if these can be brought into school on Monday 4th June as these will be collected first thing on Tuesday. We thank you in anticipation of receiving lots of bags of unwanted clothing, linens, shoes, bags and belts to raise money.
