Next Week - Test Week
Test Week
Throughout next week, all pupils from Year 1 upwards will be involved in various age appropriate tests. The results will be analysed by your child’s teacher and used, alongside ongoing assessments, to identify individual pupil targets and support. This information will be shared with parents during our open evenings - planned for Tuesday 12th and Thursday 14th January 2016. Please avoid booking any appointments during next week unless absolutely necessary. For more information about how your child will be assessed please visit our school website:
http://www.st-marys.hillingdon.sch.uk/
From the homepage: click on ‘Key Information’ followed by ‘Assessment’. At the top of this page we have provided a link to the presentation used by Miss Shevlin during our recent Parents’ Curriculum Afternoon.
Year 5 Swimming
Reminder: The last swimming lesson for Year 5 pupils took place this week. The children do not require their swimming items next Wednesday.
Christmas Productions
As Christmas approaches the children have been busy learning their lines and practicing songs for our upcoming Christmas productions. These will take place at the following times:
Upper Early Years and Key Stage 1 (Yrs 1 and 2)
Wednesday 9th December, at 2pm and 6pm
Key Stage 2 (Years 3, 4 and 5)
Wednesday 16th December, at 2pm and 6pm
It is expected that all pupils will attend their evening performance. If your child is unable to take part for any reason, please let their class teacher know as soon as possible. For the evening performance pupils should arrive at school between 5.30pm and 5.45pm (to get changed/ready for the production). It would be helpful if parents/carers could take their children to their class, and then make their way to the school hall to be seated.
Please note: The doors to the front entrance will not be opened until 5.30pm.
Christmas Carol Service and Church Fair
We would like to invite all parents, pupils and family members to join us at our Carol Service, in Church, on Thursday 17th December (at 6pm). The service will be followed by our Christmas Fair in the Church hall which will include refreshments (mulled wine, hot chocolate, mince pies), Christmas arts and crafts, a raffle, tombola and the chance to meet St. Nicholas. We hope to see you there!
Lower Early Years (Nursery) Production
This will take place on Friday 11th December at 10.30am. All nursery pupils should attend the morning session on this day.
Calling all Volunteer Accountants, Auditors or Book-keepers.
The school has two small sets of accounts, the Governors’ Fund and a Private Fund, that need auditing each year. One set closes 31st March and the other closes 31st August. There are notes as to what is required and you do not have to have formal qualifications.
If you have experience in an accounting environment or think you may be able to audit these accounts for us please contact the School Office.
Pavilions Carol Concert
This year’s Pavilions Carol Concert will take place on Tuesday 8th December, at 6pm. The event mixes readings, carol singing (with the accompaniment of the Salvation Army Band) alongside Christmas entertainment from various performers. All of our Year 6 pupils have been invited to attend to lead the singing (a separate letter will follow at a later date). All Yr6 pupils attending need to arrive at the Market Square Area, at 5.25pm. The concert is scheduled to finish between 6.45 and 7pm.
Book Fair
Once again the Scholastic Book Fair will be visiting our school. This will be open to pupils, and family members, on both Monday 7th and Thursday 10th December (from 3.30pm), in the school hall. We do hope you can attend on one of these dates!
