Maths Week 2016
Throughout next week, we will be holding our annual Maths Week in school. To celebrate, we have organised lots of fun activities for the children to enjoy including games, puzzles, investigations and competitions. All pupils will take part in a Sponsored Times Tables Test, on Tuesday, and the money raised will be used to purchase additional numeracy resources for the school. Please remind your child to only ask friends and family to sponsor them (rather than going door to door). All parents and carers are invited to attend our ‘Puzzles with Parents’ event on Monday – please see below for further details.
‘Puzzles with Parents’ Afternoon
Next Monday afternoon (23rd May), all classes will be involved in lots of interactive puzzles and investigations. We are inviting all parents/carers to come into school, from 2.15pm, to see what the children are doing. At 3pm, we will serve refreshments in the hall and there will be the opportunity to view some of the numeracy resources we use in each class. Please refer to the letter sent home this week for more information.
Year 4 Class Assembly
Year 4’s Class Assembly will take place next Tuesday 24th May. All parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend. The front entrance to school will be opened up by a member of staff shortly before 3pm.
Year 6 PGL Meeting
As the PGL visit is on the 13th - 15th June 2016 we will be holding a meeting for parents in school. This meeting will give us an opportunity to go over arrangements, e.g. packing lists. It is also a chance for you to ask any questions.
The meeting will take place on Thursday 26th May, at 3:00p.m, in the Year 6 classroom.
Clothing Collection
We are arranging another collection of unwanted clothing, bedding, curtains, paired shoes, belts & handbags. As you may be aware, the company also accepts donations of unwanted books, however books must be placed in a separate bag when being returned. We really do appreciate every donation as the money this raises is vital to helping us purchase items that enable your child to have a better learning experience. With your help, we raised £390 last time, an amount that we are very grateful for, thank you! Collection bags & letters with more information will be sent home in the coming week. All bags will need to be returned on or before Friday 27th May (the last day before half term).
PTA News
Thank you for all those that attended the meeting on Monday evening, we made lots of progress. Also thank you to parents who could not make the meeting but have emailed and texted, your support and help is appreciated. We will keep you updated with all other Fete arrangements over the coming weeks.
Profit-matching, ads. for programme, raffle prizes
Please think about approaching your employer about profit matching schemes, these can hugely boost profits with very little effort. Also how about advertising in the Fete programme and the need for raffle prizes is ever present! Thank you for your support, all offers of help email stmaryspta@outlook.com or text me Sarah Wells, 07855 998693.
