Christmas Fayre 2016 - Visit from Santa
Our Christmas Fayre is taking place today, in the school hall, from 3.30 to 5.30pm. There are lots of amazing attractions to enjoy including: visits to Father Christmas in his grotto, tombola, raffle, refreshments, arts and crafts, games and stalls. It promises to be a fantastic event and will raise much needed funds for our school. A big thank for all the donations of luxury items and to our PTA for organising this event – hope to see you there!
Book Fair
Our Book Fair will be held, next Monday and Tuesday, from 3.30pm – in the school hall. Books will be priced from as little as £1 and would make lovely Christmas presents. For every book sold, our school is able to claim one free book to be used in classrooms and our library.
Pavilions Carol Concert
Next Tuesday, our Year 5 children will be representing our school at this year’s Uxbridge Carol Concert. This will be held in the Mall Pavilions Shopping Centre, from 4.15pm. All family members are most welcome to attend. On the same afternoon, an entertainer from the Pavilions will visit school to lead an assembly with all pupils.
Year 6 Visit to Westminster Cathedral
On Wednesday, our Year 6 pupils will attend a Christmas Carol Concert at Westminster Cathedral. This will be attended by schools from across the Westminster Diocese and will help raise money for the Catholic Children’s Society.
School Uniform
The school uniform cardigan design has changed and will no longer have pockets on the front. However, if you would like your child to continue having a cardigan with pockets, please take a look at our second-hand uniform stall at our summer fete, you may find some there; you could even consider buying cardigans in larger sizes for future years.
Keeping Safe Online
Children and young people spend an average of 12 hours a week online and it becomes part of their routine early on in life. That's why it's important to start talking to your child about keeping safe online at an early age.
Last week the children did work on e-safety as part of friendship week. The Internet Matters website www.internetmatters.org has lots of useful information for parents on children staying safe online. It also has an App that can be downloaded that helps with learning about being safe online.
The NSPCC and the Kidsmart website (www.kidsmart.org.uk) are just two websites that also have information on all areas of internet safety.
Also many young children are now using You Tube and some websites give parents information on how to activate parent controls on You Tube that may help restrict the possibility of a child seeing anything inappropriate although even with restrictions it is still really important to monitor their use.
An example website with parental information on using You Tube restrictions is: www.safesearchkids.com/youtube-parental-controls or find information on You Tube: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u00yKwGFpS0)
