Thursday 18th May 2017

Thank you to all the visitors who came along to watch Year 4’s class assembly on Tuesday morning. The children taught us lots about Jesus’ ascension into heaven, the coming of the Holy Spirit and how we can carry on Jesus’ work, making the right choices, today.  Please take a look at the list of diary dates below, for all other assemblies/productions taking place this term.

School Lockdown Drill

The NaCTSO (National Counter Terrorism Security Office) gave guidance to schools on reviewing safety and security. As a result the school has put in place a ‘Lockdown Policy’ which can be viewed on the school website. We are going to be carrying out a Lockdown drill shortly with all the children.  This is something we are carrying out with the children in the event of a serious incident near the school when for the safety of the school community it is necessary to remain secure in the building. A lock down drill is making sure all children staff and visitors to the school remain in their rooms and windows and doors are all locked when a signal is given. It is a bit like a fire drill except that the danger might be outside so we would have to stay inside to stay safe. During a lockdown of a school nobody will leave the premises and the school staff will not be answering the phone. Staff will speak to the children and prepare them and we will keep it very low key.

Year 5 Class Assembly

Our Year 5 Class Assembly will take place next Tuesday 23rd May, at 9am. Parents, carers and family members are most welcome to attend.

Pupil School Eco Committee

In the Eco Committee we have been looking at how to reduce electricity and water in school. We have noticed more lights being turned off in rooms when they are not in use.

School Council

We have been helping the WE movement by providing food for Hillingdon Food bank and we are hoping to run a sponsored walk to help raise money for water in

Ecuador. We will update you with news about this after half term.

If you would like to know more about the WE movement, then please visit the following website: www.we.org/gb/we-movement/

Parent/Carer Survey 2017

Thank you to all the parents and carers who took the time to complete our online survey this week. We will analyse the results and use the findings to inform our School Development Plan for the next academic year.

May Procession

On Friday 26th May (the last day of this half term), Father Nicholas will visit school, at 2pm, to lead our May Procession. All parents, carers are must welcome to attend, please arrive by 1:50 p.m.

New and nearly new book sale!

Please note that the book sale will not take place tomorrow 19th May as the weather forecast doesn’t look good. It will now take place on Thursday 25th May at 3:30 p.m.

Holy Communions

Congratulations to all the year 3 children who have made their First Holy Communion over the last 2 weeks.

Message from Early Years Staff

Thank you to all the parents who donated seaside items! The children are having a “whale” of a time using them in our roleplay area.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids Vouchers

Thank you for all the donations of these vouchers. Could you please check if you have any Sainsbury’s vouchers at home, handbags, wallets, etc. that you could donate to school

Tissues

With hay fever season almost upon us we would be grateful for donations from parents of boxes of tissues.  As you can imagine we get through loads of boxes and have depleted our budget allocation.  Donations would be gratefully appreciated.
