Thursday 29th June 2017

The children have had lots of fun this week taking part in various activities as a part of our annual Health Week. This has included learning new games, emergency first aid training, a Sponsored Run and healthy eating sessions. The week will end tomorrow with Mindfulness workshops exploring techniques pupils can use to help combat any worries that they may have and to promote mental wellbeing. The trainer has asked if all pupils (Nursery to Year 6) can bring a cushion into school on this day. For more information about the benefits of Mindfulness, please visit the following NHS website:

An incredible amount of effort went into planning the day and we are really grateful for all the support.

Excellent Attendance

Thanks to the information given by some parents we have managed to get some passes for the Silver Blades ice rink in Slough.

As a token of our recognition to the children and their parents’ support for their 100% and the class with the best year attendance without unauthorised absences (i.e. holidays) in the academic year, children will be given two passes for them to enjoy a free ice skating session with a friend during the summer holidays.

We hope we can continue rewarding excellent attendance and if you or your company have a scheme that can support this, please let us know at the school office.

Sun Hats and Sun Cream

We are lucky enough to have seen some lovely weather over the last week or two. Please remind your child to apply sun cream before school and to bring in a sun hat and water bottle. We have sun hats available to buy from the school office for £3 each:

·Green baseball caps

·White beanie caps

·Legionaries hats

Please collect a form from the magazine boxes at school entrance and send it via your child’s book bag.

Reading Gladiators Challenge Day

Well done to the Year Four Reading Gladiators who took part in the final challenge day in Reading on Monday. They were wonderful ambassadors for our school. They won the quiz round, Nikki Gamble commented their knowledge of the books was "exceptional" and they came second in the art competition which Nikki later "tweeted" about. They should all be very proud of their hard work and achievements this year.

Sports Days

Our main Sports Day for pupils in Years 1 to 6 will take place on Monday 10th July, from 9am. The planned Sports Day for all Early Years pupils will take place on the following day - Tuesday 11th July (from 9am also). In the event of poor weather conditions we may have to reschedule (please see diary dates for back-up dates).

Nursery combined session on 11th July

All nursery children will be required to attend a combined nursery session in the morning (8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m.) on Tuesday 11th July in order to participate in the Sports Day, weather permitting.

Fundraising for the School

We are arranging a clothing collection to raise funds for the school towards the end of the term.  At the moment we have very little storage space and would ask that if you have any unwanted clothing you could store them for us. The clothes collection bags will be sent out week beginning 10th July and we ask if these can be brought into school on Monday 17th July as these will be collected on the Tuesday. We thank you in anticipation of receiving lots of bags of unwanted clothing, linens, shoes, bags and belts to raise money.
